Last week was just out of the ordinarily awesome… let us give you an overview of what happened:
Monday, ASHOKA GLOBALIZERS
Saturday and Monday, we had the pleasure to host the Ashoka Globalizer in the Hub. The Globalizer are some of the most promising Ashoka fellows from their global network.
Among them where well known entrepreneurs, such as: Thorkil Sonne (Specialisterne), Fábio Rosa (IDEAAS) and Bart Weetjens (Apopo). Ashoka brought these entrepreneurs together with supporters to help them scale their impact.
Tuesday, SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP BREAKFAST with PAT PALLAI
Pat is an extremely inspiring entrepreneur who founded Life College in South Africa. Life College helps young people to develop self- and social-leadership, which is one of the key strategies to break the poverty cycle.
Tuesday, MEMBERS MEETUP – Presenting what will happen in 2012
The Hub has around 200 members and is more than 500 days into existence. Next year a lot of innovative initiatives will be launched on a local and global level.
The Hub team presented what has happened in 2011, and proposed an outlook of what could happen in the following year. Hub Vienna members gave input and feedback and together we co-created what we wanted to see in the Hub next year.
Wednesday, Global Social Business Summit – ACADEMIC MEETING WITH MUHAMMAD YUNUS
This year, the Global Social Business Summit took place in Vienna. Before the big summit started, academics interested in social business came together to share scientific findings around this theme and to together define key steps that the academic community can take to foster social entrepreneurship and social business initiatives.
Thursday, BUSINESS MODEL INNOVATION WORKSHOP
The practical workshop is presented by the dutch business model experts Patrick Van der Pijl & Matthijs Bobeldijk. Patrick is the Producer of the bestselling book “Business Model Generation” (take a look inside the book!) which has the status of being the unofficial bible of the Business Model Canvas – the state of the art template for developing and analyzing business models.
Sunday, ANDREAS TREICHL & CHARLY KLEISSNER on IMPACT INVESTMENTS
Andreas Treichl and Charly Kleissner are pioneers of social entrepreneurship and impact investing: They have founded and/or are running the financial inclusion business of Erste Group (good.bee), a foundation for civil society (ERSTE Foundation), a global network of impact investors (Toniic LLC), a private family foundation supporting social entrepreneurs (KL Felicitas Foundation) and a social venture development program (Social-Impact International).
On Sunday, they shared their experiences around the themes of social entrepreneurship and impact investments, and offered their perspective of the future of the global economy
