Superar is building on ideas from El Sistema in Venezuela, and is now replicating it to Switzerland through the Hub network.
Caroline Rota-Niknafs (manager, superar)
Hub member, Superar is a Vienna based initiative which aims to empower young kids by giving them access to classical music training and dance lessons. It is based on the Venezuelan organisation El Sistema which has, over the past 30 years, been able to create a structure that currently teaches more than 400.000 kids. Superar is cooperating with El Sistema to develop the idea further and to bring it to Austria and the CEE Region.
Etienne Albein (superar Switzerland)
Etienne Albein, is a member of Hub Zurich, and he is working as a music teacher, musician, festival convener, … He is fascinated by the potential of music to empower young kids. When he heard about Superar through the Hub network, he was immediately hooked and decided to replicate the concept in Switzerland. It just took a couple of phone calls for them to seal the deal.
Last week, Etienne and his team were awarded with the Hub fellowship program, sponsored by the Mercator Foundation. They now receive a start-up capital, living costs and 1year Hub membership to get Superar up and running in Switzerland.
This is just one of many stories that illustrate the power of the global Hub community. And we are just starting. In 2012 we are accelerating the exchange of ideas, the matching of knowledge and of experience, the channeling of financing and much more.
So, join the Hub to realise enterprising ideas for sustainable impact!
