In 2012, otto.de was a slow and difficult-to-change e-commerce platform. The basic system was a 10 year old Intershop installation with more than 750,000 modifications – the nightmare of every product organization. Companies like Quelle or Neckermann had gone bankrupt under similar circumstances. Then in 2012, Otto launched the Lhotse project, with the goal of building something of his own.
Today, otto.de is one of the largest and most successful e-commerce platforms in Europe.
