The Product Owner Dojo is a three day intensive training to learn the art of being an agile product owner that goes far beyond learning Scrum. (However, this is also an official ScrumAlliance course, so the price includes the option for a CSPO certificate)

With our highly experiential three day training, and our extensive practical record in mentoring and coaching product groups, attendees will leave the #PoDojo equiped with the latest cutting edge toolkit for product discovery and development.

Day 1: Create the Space

    • Design Thinking: Exploring user needs with an iterative approach starting with empathy with the user’s problem, interviewing techniques, storytelling, ideation, prototyping and testing for early feedback

    • Techniques to pitch a vision to the group

    • Systems thinking tools to deal with organizational impediments (A3, 5 Whys, Retrospectives)

    • The Scrum Framework: The Lego Game simulation to experience roles, artifacts and flow

    • Personal Business Model design challenge: The product owner as a service to the organization

Day 2: Explore the Space

    • Experience Lean Thinking in an exercise: Lean Principles, 7 Wastes of Software Development, Little’s Law, Cycle Time, Flow

    • In-depth discussion of the role of the Product Owner, impact for the organization and how to measure success

    • Radical Management: Organizational change needed for companies of the 21th century

    • Scrum Project Experience – From concept to product in ½ day:

      • Story Mapping

      • User Story Writing

      • Value-Driven Development

      • Sprinting

      • Release Planning and actual releasing a product

    • Agile Manifesto: Values and Principles applied

Day 3: Product Launchpad

    • Pitch your vision and go for a ride, applying the concepts and tools learned and get coached/mentored with additional tools working on your real world problems

    • Move an idea from WHY to WHAT to HOW and LEARN by applying User Interviews, Empathy Map, Business Model/Value Proposition Canvas, Design Thinking, User Story Mapping, Prototyping and Release Planning

Certified Scrum Product Owner Training
The course includes all required elements of the Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Product Owner.  After completing the course:

    • You have the option to be registered with the Scrum Alliance as a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)

    • You have the option to apply for 21 PMP PDUs with the Project Management Institute, satisfying 21 of the required training hours for the new PMI-ACP (PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner)
