We think social media is broken.

Let's get together and try to fix it.

Social media has revolutionised how we connect and access and share information, but its impact on society is deeply problematic.

Algorithms emphasise emotion over facts, create echo chambers and allow fake news and harmful content to be spread. The lack of meaningful real-life connection, combined with constant comparisons and validation-seeking, contributes to psychological issues like anxiety, depression, and loneliness.

FABB Social Media wants to address these complex issues by creating a tailor-made
incubator program that will focus on people/initiatives that want to change how we use social media.

We identified three main ways to achieve this:

  • Educating the user to enable conscious use
  • Preventing or treating the psychological effects of social media use
  • Reducing use of social media

Our initiative will start with a kick-off event to bring the relevant people together and based on the results a follow-up process will be designed.

OUR DESIGN

We start off with a kick-off event

Based on our learnings and uderstanding from the kick-off session, a follow-up process will be designed.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE KICK-OFF EVENT

Sharing knowledge

Through keynotes, gain a clearer understanding of our status quo, what are the key issues, and which solutions exist

Broaden perspective

We collect the wisdom in the room: What solutions exist and work, what doesn't work, and what's missing?

Collaboration

In small groups, participants will work with experts and peers to develop early ideas and strengthen existing initiatives.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

We will bring together insights, knowledge, expertise, and put ideas to the test and further develop existing initiatives.

💡 People with an Idea

Have an idea to counter the harms of social media? This is your space to shape it.

🚀 Existing Initiatives

Already working on solutions? Share your experience, learn from others, and connect.
